４ What surprised me most when I read this chapter was that the Prime Minister of the United Kingdom lives at 10. The Prime Minister lives at 10 Downing Street. In 1682, Sir George Downing built a street of his house near the Palace of Whitehall. There are only four homes here, but now they are very different. George II gave Sir Robert Walpole 10 in 1735, from which time the British Prime Minister began living at 10 Downing Street.
